Breakwater Offshore Services & Investments (Pty) Ltd has secured a vessel charter in support of the offshore drilling campaign led by Rhino Resources Ltd, marking a significant milestone for Namibia’s participation in the oil and gas sector.
The charter supports offshore oil and gas operations and the mobilization activities for the Saipem 12000, one of the world’s most advanced ultra-deepwater drilling units, with us deploying our offshore support vessel, the Atlantic Ranger. Our involvement represents a notable step forward, as we become the first 100 percent Namibian-owned offshore vessel operator to be directly contracted for a charter in the country’s growing upstream oil and gas industry.
This achievement highlights the increasing role of local companies in supporting complex offshore vessel operations, an area traditionally dominated by international service providers. We own and operate offshore support vessels and provide critical marine services including towing, logistics support, anchor handling, vessel management and offshore assistance to large-scale drilling operations. Our involvement demonstrates our readiness to support high-specification assets in demanding offshore environments.
The decision by Rhino Resources to contract a Namibian offshore vessel operator reflects a meaningful commitment to advancing local upliftment within Namibia’s oil and gas sector. We view this charter as a foundation for future opportunities with various other operators and remain committed to strengthening Namibia’s offshore vessel support capabilities.
